August 8, 2008

...bear with me here. I've got a week's worth of [mostly bad] eating to post.

July 31 -- second to last day in Anchorage:

Breakfast: Peanut butter on wheat toast, and cherries.

Lunch: Peach, Nutri-Grain bar, applesauce, sammitch.
(I can't remember what kind; most likely, peanut butter.)

Dinner: One last LaMex Enchilada Plate. I love gooey
Mexican food. It's a weakness.

August 1 -- last day in Anchorage:

Breakfast: Cherries and an apple cinnamon Nutri-Grain bar.

Lunch: Snow City Cafe. I had the special: a gardem salad (I only
ate maybe half), tomato soup, and a grilled cheese sandwich.

Snack: Chicken cordon bleu balls from the Blue Fox. One last time.
Yes, I am grading my final papers right before getting on the
airplane.

Dinner: Fettuccine Alfredo. The sauce came out of a jar. It turned out
that our flight left about 3 hours earlier than we thought it did, so we
hadto make a very, very quick dinner...and this was the most instant
meal our friend Lauren had in her cupboard. (We were at her place
because we got kicked out of ours at 10:00 a.m.)

August 2 -- Chicago & Wisconsin Rapids:

Breakfast at O'Hare: Egg McMuffin Meal at McDonald's. I
love these, but only allow myself to have them when I'm flying.
It's my reward for enduring the horrors of airport travel.

Snack: Cheese curds so fresh they squeaked. It wouldn't
be my first day back in 'Sconnie without a trip to Rudolph.

Lunch: 6" roast beef sammitch from the Subway at the Rapids
Wal-Mart. It would also not be my first day back in 'Sconine
without a trip to Super Wal-Mart. Jon was in awe -- partly from
jet lag, I'm sure, but also from the sheer enormity of the store.

Dinner: I whipped up some goulash. It was pretty good,
especially considering that I was guessing on how much of
all the spices to use since my recipe was in a box somewhere,
my mom was at a party, and I wasn't able to locate the recipe
in my mom's collection.

August 3 -- Blair:
This is where my photography gets a little spotty...I was so
busy with moving furniture, arguing with U-Haul, telling my
movers (father, boyfriend, uncle, cousin) what to put in the truck,
and sorting through the decades' worth of crap that I'd accumulated
at my parents' and grandparents' places that I kind of forgot to
document a lot of my eating. Or, rather, I didn't carry my camera
around through all of that mess.

Breakfast: Not pictured. Probably a slice of toast, but I can't be sure.

Snack/Lunch: 2 sour cream cookies. These are Andy's
favorite. My mom made them pretty small this time, so
this is really more like 1.5 cookies.

Dinner: Hamburger, and 3 ears of corn. Oh my god...so yummy.

Snacks: Cinnamon roll, watermelon, and air-popped popcorn
(with butter and salt). This is a lot of snacking, I realize. If you've
ever met my grandma, though, you'd understand. It hurts her
feelings if you don't eat the things she sets in front of you...and they
were all good things, too, so I wasn't even tempted to say no. PS:
That bowl of popcorn fed 6 people.

August 4 -- Blair & Rapids:

Breakfast: 2 rolls of lefse...the best way I can explain this is
that it's kind of like a cross between a tortilla and a pancake,
but made out of potato. This is what Norwegians eat instead
of bread. You just spread a little butter on it, and viola --
instant ethnic yumminess.

Snack: More cheese. Maybe a handful? I can't remember.

Lunch: I had 2 slices -- one of pepperoni, one of sausage.
This is the $5 "Pizza to Go" deal from Little Caesar's. We
took a break from loading the U-Haul at about 3:00 to eat.

Dinner: I couldn't not eat Taco John's during my brief foray
into Rapids. I had 2 beef tacos, and about 1/3 of the potato ole.
I split it with Jon, and he ate the majority of it. My mom also had
some.

Snack: Raspberries and blackberries. These seemed so cheap
after Alaska prices that Jon and I bought both and split them.
(We also shared with my parents.) My mom laughed at us because
she thought that the berries were awfully expensive. :)

August 5 -- Moving Day (Rapids & Sheboygan):
My records were VERY BAD on moving day. My camera was missing
for a good portion of the day...turns out it got shoved into a box that
got shoved into the guest room.

Breakfast: Cheese curds & peanut butter on white bread. (That's
all my parents had.)

Lunch: I had a cheeseburger & fries at Culver's.

Snack: I know I had a granola bar, and there's a possibility that I
had another snack. I don't remember.

Late Night Snack: Donut. Bad, I know, but Jon bought
a box and there wasn't a whole lot else in the apartment.

August 6:

Another bad day in terms of photographing. Unfortunately, I
also don't remember what I didn't eat.

Breakfast: Another donut, on account of the "no other food
in the apartment" problem.

Snack: We went grocery shopping. This was one of the many
purchases. We spent $300 on groceries and got about twice as
much food as we would have gotten in Anchorage for that same
amount.

I know I'm missing a lot of food in there. I remember having a
turkeysub from Jimmy John's for lunch, and...I had no idea what I
ate for dinner.

August 7:

Breakfast: Hawaiian roll and banana.

Lunch: Microwaveable Michelena's fettuccine alfredo.
It was easy and I was in a hurry.

Snack: My mom introduced me to these. Mmmm. The only
problem is that they're so tiny. :)

Dinner: About 1/3 tub of cottage cheese. I didn't feel like cooking,
nor did I feel like eating out, so...I had this. I thought I'd grabbed
the low fat kind, but...I guess not. I'll have to be more careful about
that next time.

August 8:
Breakfast: Evidently not pictured. Banana and peanut butter on wheat
bread.

Lunch: Whole Grain mac-n-cheese. This is something that
is not available in Alaska as far as I'm aware.

Snack: Granola bar.

Dinner: Pepperoni and sausage pizza. It's a take-n-bake.
I had 2 pieces, but forgot to take a picture until I was almost
done eating. I was a little hungry. :)

Snack: I ate a few cherries...5 or 6, maybe?

Snack: Fat Free Breyers caramel swirl ice cream. This stuff
was so rich I could only eat a little bit...and if you know me,
that's saying a lot.
